Work across all projects
Turn on All projects, find a session from any project, open it without switching, start a new session in another project, and return to where you were.
By the end of this page you will follow work from two projects in one list, open one of their sessions without leaving the list, and start a new session in another project from the same place. Turning the globe off brings you back to the project you started in.
Expect about ten minutes. Nothing here changes or moves existing work.
Before you start
- The daemon and Web app are v0.4.0 or later.
- Two projects are registered and each has at least one session. The examples use
checkout-apiandmarketing-site. - You are focused on
checkout-api(its name is on the topbar chip).
Step 1: Turn on All projects
Click the globe in the topbar, or press ⇧⌘G. You can also choose All projects at the top of the
workspace switcher, or run the palette command scope.global.toggle from ⌘K.
The globe stays pressed and the chip reads All projects. The shell switches to the All projects
desktop; your checkout-api desktop is kept as it was.
Step 2: Find a session from any project
Open Sessions. The list now holds every project's sessions, newest first. The second line of each row starts with a project badge (its monogram and name). User sessions carry a User badge.
To see them by project, open the sort menu and choose Group by → Project. Each group shows its count and a dot when one of its sessions is working or needs you, even while collapsed. Choose Group by → None to go back to the flat list.
Step 3: Narrow to some projects
Click Project in the toolbar and pick marketing-site. Only its sessions remain. Add User to
include User sessions too. The filter clears when you turn All projects off.
Step 4: Open a session in place
Click a marketing-site session. It opens in a window on the All projects desktop, with the project
badge in the window title. The globe stays on: you did not switch projects.
The same works from Tasks, Loops, Automations, Terminal, Agents, Home, the needs-you bell, and the palette.
Step 5: Start a session in another project
Click New session. The composer shows a destination row:
In checkout-api ▾
The Project picker is prefilled from the focused window, then the last project you used here, then
the first project. Pick marketing-site, type a message, and send. The confirmation names the
project and profile. User is always the last option and creates a User-scope session.
Under All profiles the row also shows as default ▾, a Profile picker prefilled with your current profile.
Step 6: Go back
Click the globe again. You are back on checkout-api with its desktop, selection, and worktree as you
left them. Choosing a project or worktree in the switcher also turns All projects off.
What you did
- Read every project's sessions from one list, flat or grouped by project.
- Narrowed with the Project filter.
- Opened and created sessions in other projects without switching.
- Returned to your project exactly as it was.
Next steps
- Keep grouping on by default:
compozy config set shell.sessions.group_by project. - Read the same lists from scripts: Read every project from the CLI and HTTP.
- Work that belongs to no project: User scope.
